Catherine is an active performer and Suzuki teacher hailing from Portland, Maine. Her love for music began when she heard the sound of a string quartet at a Christmas gathering. She was drawn to the deep, resonate sound and mellow sweetness of the cello. Catherine attended the Osher School of Music in Southern Maine where she received a B.M. in cello performance in 2020. In her time as a student, Catherine studied under Boston Symphony member, William Rounds and participated in several masterclasses, most notably with cellist Inbal Segev, cellist Yibing Chu and A Far Cry Orchestra. Catherine has performed with various New England music groups such as The Portland Stage Theatre Company, The Raymond Arts Alliance and the Acadia Quartet. Currently she is a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois University where she is the co-director of the Southern Illinois Youth Orchestra and holds a teaching position at Market Music Conservatory in Marion, Il. As a certified Suzuki teacher and proponent of mindfulness in music education Catherine seeks to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for her students.
